Duskmere is a dream journal that starts with a near-black, half-asleep-friendly capture screen — type or dictate, tap a keyword chip, or record a quick voice memo, and go back to sleep. In the morning, expand any keyword drafts into full entries. Everything is tagged, searchable, and browsable by calendar. On top of the journal sits a science-backed lucidity program: recall stats, dream-sign insights, reality-check reminders, and (for subscribers) the full lesson track, a Wake-Back-to-Bed alarm, and a 150-entry symbol reference library. There is no account, no login, and no server — your dreams stay on your iPhone.
Duskmere stores everything locally on this device only — there's no account and no cloud sync, so switching phones without exporting first means starting over. Before you switch: open Settings → Your data → See your data, then tap Export as JSON (a complete, structured copy) or Export as text (a readable copy). Both are free, with or without a subscription. Save the file somewhere you'll still have it on your new phone — Files, iCloud Drive, or email it to yourself.
Go to Settings → Privacy and turn on Require Face ID / Touch ID. This feature is free — it is never behind the subscription. If the toggle is disabled with a note that Face ID or Touch ID isn't set up, go set up biometrics in the iOS Settings app first, then come back and turn it on. Duskmere never sees or stores your biometric data itself; iOS only tells the app whether authentication succeeded.
The WBTB alarm is a local notification, the same kind as any other reminder — it respects your phone's silent switch, Do Not Disturb, and Focus modes exactly the way any other notification does. It is not a dedicated alarm-clock sound that overrides them. If you're relying on it for a real 4am wake-up, check that your ringer is on and no Focus mode is active before bed, or pair it with the iPhone's built-in Clock app alarm, which is built specifically to sound through silent mode. This same caveat is explained in the WBTB lesson inside the app.
On the capture screen, tap the record control between the keyword chips and the Done button. The first time, iOS will ask for microphone permission — allow it to record. Free accounts get one audio memo per entry; subscribers can re-record and attach audio without that limit. If you deny microphone access, typing and keyword chips keep working exactly as before — recording is the only thing affected.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Duskmere and tap Cancel, or use the "Manage subscription" link in Duskmere's own Settings screen, which opens the same page. You keep premium features until the end of the period you already paid for. If you're on the 7-day annual trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends or it converts to a paid subscription automatically. Refund requests also go through Apple — we cannot issue them.
Open the paywall (tap any locked feature) and tap Restore purchases, or use the same option in Settings. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you purchased with, and that you have a working internet connection. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the date of purchase and we'll help.
Nothing. Every entry, tag, draft, audio memo, lesson-completion record, and streak you've built stays exactly as it is — cancelling only re-locks the premium layer (the rest of the lucidity program, WBTB, custom reality-check timing, full dream-sign insights, the full symbol library, and long-horizon trends). Capture, journaling, search, the calendar, app lock, and export are free forever and are never affected by subscription status.
No, and we're upfront about that throughout the app. The lucidity program teaches techniques (MILD, WBTB, reality testing) with published research behind them, and cites that research honestly, including its real success rates and limits — but no app can guarantee a lucid dream. See our Terms of Service.
Go to Settings → Your data → See your data and tap Export as JSON or Export as text. Duskmere hands the file to the standard iOS share sheet — from there you can save it to Files, mail it to yourself, or open it in another app. Both formats are free, any time, regardless of subscription. The file isn't sent anywhere by us; where it goes is your choice.
Check that notifications are enabled for Duskmere in iOS Settings → Notifications → Duskmere, and that the relevant reminder is turned on inside Duskmere's Settings. Turning a reminder off and back on re-schedules it.

Delete the app. Everything Duskmere stores — entries, audio memos, tags, recall stats, streaks, lucidity-program progress, and settings — lives only on your device, so removing the app removes them. There is no account or server-side copy to separately delete.
